Auction Bidders Spend Big For Art Deco On Wheels
Only from a distance can one truly appreciate the design of an automobile such ash this 1940 Packard Darrin Convertible above and below that commanded a $205,000 selling price at the huge Mecum Auction in Florida. Stepping back far enough from one of the many Art Deco era-inspired vehicles at the auction, one can take in its form as a whole, a perpetually perfect viewing angle. But one must not miss the closeups of this beauty and other Deco-inspired automobiles among some 1,500 vehicles that had collectors, dealers, auto buffs and admirers salivating and digging deep into their pockets for true art on wheels.
